Spoleto

An ancient city, it stands at the foot of Monteluco, a place of ancient hermitages. It was a thriving Roman municipality whose signs are still evident in the ARCH OF DRUSO AND GERMANICO (23 AD) in the Roman theater (1st century BC) and in the Casa Romana (1st ° century AD). From the 4th century it became an Episcopal seat. It is a town truly rich in history and monuments, recalling THE ALBOMOZIAN FORTRESS, THE BLOOD BRIDGE from the Roman era, THE ARCH OF DRUSO, THE BRIDGE OF THE TOWERS, THE FAMOUS BASILICA OF SAN SALVATORE included in the UNESCO world heritage list.

Very famous for its excellent oil, craftsmanship and the very famous SPOLETO FESTIVAL which since 1958 has repeated a very important cultural event every year. In the historic center you can taste it in the typical restaurants their Umbrian specialties, including Trattoria LA TORRETTA, LA PROSCIUTTERIA DEL CORSO, TRATTORIA DEL FESTIVAL etc… Even in Spoleto you will find interesting TREKKING routes, the famous SPOLETO MONTELUCO route along “la corte” to discover the hermitage areas, a suggestive path that crosses the Spoleto forest, if you are passionate about ornithology, walking along “la corta” will allow you to see specimens of green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, treecreeper and nuthatch.

Once you reach the top of the mountain, after several hermitages you will find yourself walking alongside the CONVENT OF SAN FRANCESCO, where Saint Francis retreated in meditation in 1218. Let yourself be relaxed by the serenity that hovers in the woods until you reach the Belvedere. Once the walk we recommend returning to Sploeto and visiting the beautiful historic center to complete your experience with food and wine stops, taste the Crescionda, a delicious dessert made with amaretti biscuits and chocolate. You can then return to the B&B TO REST IN RELAXATION AMONG THE MOUNTAINS ON THE EDGE POOL.
